Terms & Conditions – JohnsonNorton Electrical

1. Quotations & Estimates

All quotations provided by JohnsonNorton Electrical are valid for 30 days from the date issued unless otherwise stated. Quotations are based on the information available at the time and may be subject to change should additional work, materials or unforeseen circumstances arise during the project.

Estimates are approximate only and may vary depending on the final scope of works.

2. Acceptance Of Work

Acceptance of any quotation, estimate or booking confirms agreement to these Terms & Conditions.

JohnsonNorton Electrical reserves the right to refuse or cancel work at its discretion.

3. Deposits

A deposit may be required prior to commencement of work, particularly for:

  • Larger projects

  • Special order materials

  • Consumer unit upgrades

  • Rewires

  • EV charger installations

  • Solar installations

  • Commercial works

Deposits are non-refundable where:

  • Materials have been purchased

  • Labour time has been allocated

  • Work has commenced

  • Cancellation occurs within 48 hours of the scheduled booking

If cancellation occurs after materials have been ordered, the customer will remain liable for all material and supplier costs incurred.

4. Payments

Payment is due immediately upon completion of works unless otherwise agreed in writing.

For larger projects, staged payments may be required throughout the duration of the works.

JohnsonNorton Electrical reserves the right to:

  • request interim payments

  • cease works until payment is received

  • withhold certificates until invoices are settled in full

Accepted payment methods:

  • Bank transfer

  • Cash

  • Other agreed payment methods

5. Late Payments

Late payments may incur:

  • statutory interest

  • debt recovery costs

  • administrative fees

JohnsonNorton Electrical reserves the right to pursue unpaid invoices through legal recovery procedures where necessary.

Any costs incurred recovering outstanding balances may be added to the total owed.

6. Access To Property

The customer is responsible for ensuring safe and reasonable access to the property and working areas.

JohnsonNorton Electrical will not be liable for delays caused by:

  • restricted access

  • third-party contractors

  • unavailable utilities

  • unsafe working conditions

  • hidden defects or pre-existing issues

7. Customer Responsibilities

Customers must:

  • remove valuables where appropriate

  • provide access to electrical points and consumer units

  • ensure pets and children are supervised

  • disclose known faults or previous electrical issues

8. Additional & Unforeseen Works

Any additional works outside the original quotation will be charged separately.

Older properties may contain hidden issues not visible during the initial inspection including:

  • unsafe wiring

  • damaged circuits

  • incorrect previous installations

  • asbestos-containing materials

  • inaccessible cables

Where unforeseen works are required, customers will be informed before additional work proceeds where reasonably possible.

9. Electrical Testing & Certification

Where applicable, certification will be issued upon completion and receipt of full payment.

JohnsonNorton Electrical reserves the right to withhold certificates until all outstanding balances have been cleared.

10. Consumer Unit Upgrades & Existing Installations

Upgrading a consumer unit may identify pre-existing faults or non-compliant circuits within the installation.

JohnsonNorton Electrical cannot be held responsible for defects relating to existing wiring or installations not originally installed by the company.

Additional remedial work may be required to meet current regulations.

11. Cancellations & Rescheduling

Customers must provide at least 48 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling where possible.

JohnsonNorton Electrical reserves the right to charge for:

  • late cancellations

  • missed appointments

  • wasted labour time

  • ordered materials

Emergency call-out fees may still apply even if no repair is carried out.

12. Warranty & Guarantee

JohnsonNorton Electrical provides a workmanship guarantee on completed installations for a reasonable period following completion.

Manufacturer warranties apply separately to supplied products and materials.

The guarantee does not cover:

  • customer damage

  • misuse

  • third-party interference

  • lack of maintenance

  • power surges

  • water ingress

  • existing faults outside completed works

13. Limitation Of Liability

JohnsonNorton Electrical shall not be liable for:

  • indirect losses

  • loss of earnings

  • business interruption

  • delays outside reasonable control

  • pre-existing faults

  • hidden defects

Nothing within these Terms & Conditions limits liability where prohibited by UK law.

14. Emergency Call Outs

Emergency call-out charges may include:

  • attendance fee

  • diagnostic time

  • out-of-hours rates

  • materials used

Attendance does not guarantee immediate repair where additional parts or specialist works are required.

15. Materials & Equipment

Materials supplied remain the property of JohnsonNorton Electrical until paid for in full.

Where customers supply their own materials or equipment, JohnsonNorton Electrical accepts no responsibility for:

  • product failure

  • compatibility issues

  • warranty claims

  • delays caused by defective materials

16. Property Damage

Reasonable care will be taken whilst carrying out works.

However, some electrical works may require:

  • lifting flooring

  • chasing walls

  • drilling

  • access through ceilings

Minor cosmetic making-good may not be included unless specifically stated within the quotation.

17. Force Majeure

JohnsonNorton Electrical shall not be liable for delays or failure to complete works caused by circumstances beyond reasonable control including:

  • severe weather

  • supplier delays

  • illness

  • power outages

  • accidents

  • government restrictions

18. Website & Marketing Material

All website content, images, branding and marketing materials remain the property of JohnsonNorton Electrical and may not be copied or reproduced without permission.

19. Privacy

Customer information will only be used for:

  • quotations

  • invoices

  • certification

  • communication regarding works

Personal information will not be shared with third parties except where legally required or necessary for completion of works.

20. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
